Eggnog French Toast

Ingredients

The egg mixture

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups eggnog
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • a pinch cinnamon
  • a pinch salt

The bread and toppings

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 loaf challah bread, cut into 1-inch slices
  • to taste whipped cream
  • to taste maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, eggnog, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl or shallow dish.
  2. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Dip slices of challah bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides, and transfer to the skillet.
  4. Cook the bread for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown, adding more butter as needed.
  5. Place the cooked French toast in a warm oven while cooking the remaining slices.
  6. Serve with whipped cream and maple syrup.
