Ingredients

The egg mixture

  • cups eggnog
  • 5 units eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon rum
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • teaspoon nutmeg

The bread

  • 6-8 slices Babka, thick Brioche or Challah bread

For serving

  • to taste whipped cream
  • to taste toasted almonds
  • to taste maple syrup
  • to taste powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs and eggnog together, then add cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and rum.
  2. Dip each slice of Babka into the egg mixture, letting it soak for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  3. Optionally, let the slices soak overnight in the eggnog mixture.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and coat it generously with butter.
  5. Cook the french toast in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
  6. Serve immediately with whipped cream, toasted almonds, and maple syrup.
