Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled to lukewarm

The mix-ins

  • 1 cup peanut butter chips or Reese's pieces
  • 1 cup semisweet, milk or bittersweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and peanut butter until smooth.
  3. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla, mixing until light in color.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Drizzle in the cooled, melted chocolate while mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the peanut butter chips and chocolate chips.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 10-11 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  10. Cool completely on a wire rack.
