Caprese Salad

Ingredients

The salad

  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese
  • 4 large tomatoes
  • ¾ oz fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian parsley

The dressing

  • 2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine salt and black pepper in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Rinse the tomatoes in cold water and pat dry.
  3. Slice the tomatoes into ¼ inch – ½ inch slices and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Slice the mozzarella into ¼ inch – ½ inch slices and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Layer the salad starting with a slice of tomato, then a basil leaf, and a slice of mozzarella.
  6. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used.
  7. Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad.
  8. Garnish with chopped Italian parsley.
