Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
- Drain excess grease and add onion, cooking until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and spices, then bring to a simmer.
- Cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Add kidney beans and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, then serve with toppings.
