Maple Vanilla Almond Clusters

The coating

Instructions
- Toast the almonds and pecans in a nonstick skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate bowl, mix the water, vanilla extract, and maple syrup into the sugar until combined.
- Add the sugar mixture and butter to the toasted nuts and heat over medium, stirring constantly until sticky (about 3 minutes).
- Remove from heat and spread the nuts in the pan. Let sit for a few minutes, stir, and spread again.
- Sprinkle with salt if desired, and let sit for at least 1 hour until cool and hardened.
- Break into chunks and enjoy!
