Ingredients

The asparagus

  • 1 large bunch fresh asparagus

The seasoning

  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

The toppings

  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Trim off the woody ends of the asparagus.
  3. Rinse the trimmed asparagus under cold water and dry thoroughly.
  4. Place the asparagus on a rimmed baking sheet and season with olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper.
  5. Arrange the asparagus in a flat, even layer.
  6. Roast in the oven for 7 to 15 minutes, until tender, depending on the thickness of the spears.
  7. Transfer to a serving platter and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
  8. Serve with fresh lemon slices if desired.
