Classic Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
The potatoes

peeled russet potatoes, chopped into 1 1/2 inch cubes

salt, divided
The mixture

cup
skim milk

light butter, sliced

teaspoon
garlic powder

teaspoon
black pepper
Instructions
- 1. Place the cubed potatoes in a large pan with cold water and add ½ teaspoon of salt.
- 2. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender.
- 3. Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a mixing bowl.
- 4. Microwave the milk and butter together until warm.
- 5. Beat the potatoes while slowly adding the milk and butter mixture.
- 6. Add the remaining salt, garlic powder, and black pepper, and mix until just combined.
