Ingredients

The dough

  • cup whole-wheat pastry flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 sticks butter (softened)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups rolled oats

Add-ins

  • ¾ cup raisins
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together using an electric mixer.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed and scraping the sides as needed.
  6. Fold in the rolled oats.
  7. Divide the dough in half; fold raisins into one half and chocolate chips into the other.
  8. Spoon the cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 3 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
