Ingredients

The base

  • 2 cans chickpeas, strained, drained and rinsed
  • ¾ cup tahini
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • juice of 2 large lemons lemon juice

Seasonings

  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cracked black pepper
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes

Liquid

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • ¾ cup cold water

Garnish

  • cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Rinse and drain the chickpeas, then add them to a food processor.
  2. Add tahini, garlic, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cumin, red chili flakes, and olive oil to the food processor.
  3. Blend on high until almost smooth, scraping the sides as needed.
  4. While blending, slowly add cold water until the mixture is completely smooth and adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving dish, spreading it evenly and creating a small well in the center.
  6. Drizzle extra olive oil into the well and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  7. Serve with fresh veggies and toasted pita bread.
