Grilled Margherita Pizza

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 envelope dry active yeast (1/4 oz)
  • 2 tsp honey
  • cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • to taste vegetable cooking spray

Pizza Toppings

  • 1 cup pizza or marinara sauce
  • 1 large tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh, high moisture mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 large bunch basil, added at end

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, olive oil, yeast, and honey in a food processor.
  2. Add flour and salt, pulse until dough forms a ball.
  3. Place dough in a bowl coated with cooking spray, cover, and chill for 2 hours.
  4. Roll the dough on a floured surface; cut into approximately 6 portions.
  5. Prepare the grill for direct and indirect cooking zones at about 400+ degrees.
  6. Coat grill grates with nonstick spray or olive oil.
  7. Place dough on the indirect side and grill until char marks form, about 4 minutes.
  8. Flip the dough, add sauce and toppings, and grill until cheese melts.
