Ingredients

The Brie and Bread

  • 1 8 ounce brie round
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 loaf crusty sourdough or ciabatta bread, sliced
  • slices olive oil enough to drizzle over bread
  • 1 clove garlic

Blackberry Basil Smash Salsa

  • cups fresh blackberries
  • cup fresh basil, sliced or chopped
  • 1 piece jalapeño, finely chopped
  • ½ piece juice of a lemon or lime
  • a pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salsa by smashing the blackberries in a bowl and mixing in basil, jalapeño, lemon or lime juice, and salt. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Preheat the grill to high heat or the oven to 450°F.
  3. Drizzle olive oil on both sides of the bread slices and rub with the halved garlic clove. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Grill the brie and bread slices for about 2-3 minutes per side until lightly charred, being careful not to break the brie.
  5. Serve the warm brie drizzled with honey and topped with the salsa, accompanied by the grilled bread.
