  1. Slice the onions into even slices about ¼ to ½-inch thick.

  4. Cook the onions on low for 30 minutes, stirring periodically.
  5. After 30 minutes, add the salt, stir, and cook for an additional 20-30 minutes until golden brown and caramelized.
  6. Remove from heat and serve or store in the refrigerator.
