Ingredients

The pork chops

  • 4 pieces boneless pork chops

The coating

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

The sauce

  • 1 cup high-quality apple cider
  • ¼ cup apple butter
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Creole or coarsely ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pressed garlic

The caramelized onions

  • 1 large onion

Cooking fat

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  3. In a large, oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Dredge the pork chops in the flour mixture and brown them for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. While the pork chops are browning, mix apple cider, apple butter, water, garlic, and mustard in a bowl.
  6. Once the pork chops are browned, add the cider mixture to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Distribute the caramelized onions over the pork chops, cover the skillet, and transfer it to the oven.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, then serve with sauce and your choice of sides.
