Glazed Maple Shortbread Cookies

Instructions
- Whisk together flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Mix butter and sugar in an electric mixer until combined, then add maple extract.
- Slowly add the flour mixture and mix until just combined.
- Divide the dough into two portions, shape into disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out one disk to ¼-inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
- Transfer cut shapes to a baking sheet and chill for 15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake cookies for 14-16 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and maple extract, adding milk to thin as needed.
- Spread glaze over cooled cookies and top with sprinkles or pecans if desired.
- Let the glaze set at room temperature before storing in an airtight container.
