Ingredients

The dough

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ½ tsp rapid rise yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cups warm milk or plant-based milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 3 eggs room temperature eggs

The filling

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Grease a large bowl with vegetable oil and set aside.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl, creating a well in the center.
  4. Add butter, eggs, and the flour mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth, adding more flour if sticky.
  6. Transfer the dough to the greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  7. Line a 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  8. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.
  9. Melt the butter and measure the maple syrup.
  10. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into 4 equal pieces.
  11. Spread melted butter and maple syrup on each piece, then sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  12. Cut the dough into strips and arrange them in the pan, spiraling inward.
  13. Drizzle remaining maple syrup over the roll and let it rise for another 45-60 minutes.
  14. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  15. Bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
  16. Serve warm with ice cream, cream cheese icing, or whipped cream.
