Ingredients

The batter

  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

The croissants

  • 6 pieces croissants, halved lengthwise

Toppings

  • to taste maple syrup
  • to taste powdered sugar
  • to taste whipped cream
  • to taste strawberry sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F and line a baking sheet with foil.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, salt, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add flour and baking powder, stirring until there are no lumps.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and coat with nonstick spray or oil.
  5. Dip croissant halves in the batter, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl.
  6. Arrange croissant halves in a single layer on the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Flip each half and continue cooking until golden brown on the other side.
  8. Remove cooked croissants to the prepared baking sheet and keep warm in the oven.
  9. Repeat with remaining croissant halves and serve with desired toppings.
