Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened (2 sticks)
  • 4 to 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ΒΌ cup heavy cream
  • pinch salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter on medium-high speed until fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  2. Reduce mixer speed to low and add 4 cups of powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and salt (if using).
  3. Continue mixing until smooth, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. If the frosting is too soft, add more powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time.
  5. Cover and refrigerate the frosting until ready for use.
