  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder

  • ¾ cup cheese (grated, white cheddar)
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing well.
  3. Cut the butter into small pieces and mix into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the grated cheese.
  5. Add the buttermilk and mix gently, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Knead the dough lightly 8 to 10 times, then flatten to a thickness of ¾ inch.
  7. Cut out biscuit rounds using a glass or cookie cutter.
  8. Place the rounds on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned.
