Sauteed Cabbage

Ingredients

The cabbage

  • 1 head Green cabbage (~3 lb)

The cooking fats and flavorings

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted butter (optional, but recommended)
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar (optional)

The seasoning

  • 2 tsp Sea salt (to taste)
  • ½ tsp Black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Cut the cabbage into quarters, remove the core, and slice it thinly into shreds.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and add minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced cabbage to the pan, sautéing for 10-15 minutes until caramelized, stirring occasionally.
  4. If using, reduce heat and stir in butter and/or balsamic vinegar during the last minute or two of cooking.
  5. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
