Ingredients

The dough

  • 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. granulated sugar
  • cup warm water
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg

For egg wash

  • 1 egg beaten with water

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk, butter, salt, and sugar in a saucepan until the butter melts.
  2. Combine yeast, sugar, and warm water in a measuring cup and let it activate.
  3. Mix the milk mixture with bread flour in a stand mixer.
  4. Add the yeast mixture and beat on high for three minutes.
  5. Beat in the beaten egg until fully combined.
  6. Switch to the dough hook and add all-purpose flour until the dough is tacky.
  7. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour.
  8. Punch down the dough and divide it into 15 pieces, rolling each into a ball.
  9. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 45 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F, brush the rolls with egg wash, and bake for 15-18 minutes.
  11. Brush with melted butter after baking and serve warm.
