Homemade Whipped Cream

Ingredients

The cream

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream (cold)

The sweetener

  • 3-4 tablespoons sifted confectioners sugar

The flavoring

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

The stabilizer (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon cold water

Instructions

  1. Chill a medium mixing bowl and beaters in the fridge.
  2. Mix unflavored gelatin and cold water in a microwave-safe bowl and let it sit for 20-30 seconds.
  3. Microwave the gelatin mixture in 5-second increments until dissolved.
  4. Remove the chilled bowl and beaters from the fridge, add the heavy cream, and start mixing on low speed.
  5. Once bubbles form, switch to medium speed and add the sugar and vanilla extract.
  6. If using gelatin, add it at this point and continue whipping until soft peaks form.
  7. Do not over mix. Cover the whipped cream and refrigerate for 1-2 hours without gelatin or up to 48 hours with gelatin.
