Ingredients

The apples

  • 5 pounds local sweet apples

The spices and flavorings

  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • cup Sucanat

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the apples.
  2. Add the diced apples, cinnamon sticks, fresh ginger, apple juice, ground cloves, and Sucanat to the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour.
  4. Reduce heat to low and cook covered for 15 ½ hours.
  5. If needed, cook on medium heat uncovered until desired thickness is achieved.
