Instructions
- Prepare the caramel sauce by warming honey and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Once bubbles form, reduce heat to medium-low and stir for about 10 minutes.
- If the mixture bubbles over, remove from heat and stir, then return to heat once bubbles subside.
- After the sauce thickens and darkens, remove from heat and whisk in baking soda.
- Return to medium heat for 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly until thick and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and let cool, stirring occasionally until it reaches a thick caramel consistency.
- Set up a dipping station with warmed caramel sauce, chopped pecans, and skewered apples.
- Roll each apple in the caramel sauce, then let it sit for 2-3 minutes to allow the caramel to harden.
- Roll the caramelized apples in chopped pecans and allow them to harden in the refrigerator or enjoy warm.
