  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup bourbon (or apple cider or water)
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (melted)
  • 6 pieces favorite apples (e.g., Granny Smith, Honeycrisp)
  • 6 pieces twigs or wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet with foil or a silicone mat.
  2. Whisk together egg white, bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl until frothy, then coat the pecans and bake for 15-25 minutes until toasted.
  3. While the nuts roast, insert sticks into the apples and refrigerate them.
  4. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and bourbon, bringing to a boil for 9 minutes until light golden.
