Ingredients

The pizza base

  • 1 whole whole wheat pizza dough or dough of your choice

The toppings

  • 1 16 oz. can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup fresh tomato sauce
  • 6 tablespoons sweet BBQ sauce
  • 1-2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 2 cups vegan mozzarella cheese shreds
  • a few slices red onions
  • 1 medium plum tomato, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • drizzle optional olive oil
  • to taste chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F and prepare the pizza stone or baking sheet.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the chickpeas with BBQ sauce and hot sauce.
  3. Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza dough, then layer with cheese, tomato slices, onion slices, and BBQ chickpeas.
  4. Sprinkle garlic powder over the pizza and drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Bake in the oven for 14 to 17 minutes until the cheese is melted and the dough is cooked.
  6. Let the pizza cool slightly, garnish with parsley, slice, and enjoy.
