Ingredients

The sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper
  • 1-2 pinches cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill

Optional additions

  • to taste chopped sweet onion
  • to taste garlic
  • to taste chives
  • to taste scallions
  • to taste fresh herbs (basil, parsley, cilantro)

Instructions

  1. Chop the dill pickles, capers, and dill into small pieces.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed.
  3. Adjust lemon and salt to taste.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
