Ingredients

The steak and seasoning

  • 1 lb sirloin steak or boneless rib eye steak, about 3/4-inch thick
  • kosher salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

The garlic chive butter

  • 2 tablespoon salted butter, room temperature
  • 1 clove small garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon chives, chopped

Instructions

  1. Make the garlic chive butter by whipping the butter, garlic, and chives together, then chill in the fridge.
  2. Season the steak with salt and ground black pepper on both sides.
  3. Heat the outdoor grill to 500°F (260°C) with the lid closed.
  4. Grill each side of the steak for 7 minutes over direct heat.
  5. Transfer the steak to a serving platter, add the garlic chive butter on top, slice the steak into pieces, and serve immediately.
