Ingredients

The bread

  • 1 loaf (16 ounces) ciabatta bread or crusty French bread

The garlic spread

  • 4 heads roasted garlic
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley or dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Slice the loaf of bread horizontally into two slabs and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Remove the roasted garlic cloves and mash them in a bowl.
  4. Mix the mashed garlic with butter and salt until combined.
  5. Spread half the garlic mixture on one piece of bread and the remaining on the other piece.
  6. Bake for 5 to 12 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Sprinkle with parsley or oregano, slice, and serve.
