Air Fryer Tuna Steaks

Ingredients

The tuna steaks

  • 1 pound tuna steak

The marinade

  • ½ cup avocado or olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or gluten-free tamari
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

For serving

  • to taste sesame seeds
  • to taste chopped green onions
  • to taste lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry and place them in a shallow dish.
  2. Combine the avocado oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, ginger, red chili flakes, salt, and pepper in a bowl or mason jar.
  3. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the marinade and pour the rest over the tuna steaks, turning to coat.
  4. Refrigerate the tuna steaks for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  6. Remove the tuna from the marinade and allow excess to drip off.
  7. Place the tuna in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  8. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes, or until desired doneness is reached.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Drizzle with reserved marinade and top with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with lime wedges.
