Hazelnut Butter

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces hazelnuts
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300ºF and arrange the hazelnuts on a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Roast the hazelnuts for 10 to 15 minutes until the skins start to crack.
  3. Let the hazelnuts cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer the warm hazelnuts to a dry towel and rub to remove the skins.
  5. Place the skinned hazelnuts in a food processor and process for about 5 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.
  6. Continue processing for another 4 to 5 minutes until the hazelnut butter is smooth and drips off a spoon.
  7. Optionally, add salt and process briefly to incorporate.
