Ingredients

The oats

  • 1 cup steel cut oats

The liquid

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. For the stove top method, bring water and milk to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add oats and stir, watching closely for bubbling.
  3. Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes until desired consistency is reached.
  4. For the overnight method, boil water and add oats, then cover and turn off heat.
  5. Let sit overnight, then add a splash of water or milk and heat in the morning.
  6. For the slow cooker, coat the cooker with butter or oil, then add oats, water, milk, salt, and cinnamon.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
