How to Freeze Beets
Instructions
- Bring a medium saucepan filled with water to a boil.
- Chop the greens off the beets if attached, leaving about half an inch.
- Scrub the beets thoroughly to remove any dirt.
- Carefully add the beets to the boiling water and boil for 30-35 minutes until fork tender.
- Drain the beets and transfer them to an ice bath to cool.
- Peel the skins off and cut off the tops and roots.
- Slice, dice, or shred the beets as desired.
- Spread the beet pieces on a baking tray and freeze for 4 hours.
- Transfer the frozen beets to freezer bags, removing as much air as possible.
