Ingredients

The bread

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas (mashed)
  • cup melted unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons smooth tahini paste
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

The topping

  • 2 teaspoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons black sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugars, egg, vanilla, tahini, and baking soda.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. Sprinkle additional sesame seeds on top.
  7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a rack to cool further.
