Ingredients

The biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, melted

The topping

  • 3 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the cheese and toss until coated with the flour mixture.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until just combined, being careful not to over mix.
  5. Using a greased 1/4-cup measure, scoop the dough and drop onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  6. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden.
  7. While the biscuits are baking, whisk together the topping ingredients.
  8. Brush the topping over the hot biscuits immediately after baking and serve warm.
