Ingredients

The Donut Batter

  • 2 large eggs
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • cup creamy almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon fine salt

The Chocolate Glaze

  • cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 teaspoons milk
  • 2-3 tablespoons desired topping (crushed almonds, sprinkles, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a 6-count donut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, melted butter, almond butter, and vanilla.
  3. Sift in the cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda, then add the salt and mix well.
  4. Divide the batter among the 6 donut cavities, smoothing the tops.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the donuts cool for at least 10 minutes before removing them from the pan.
  7. For the glaze, sift together the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then add vanilla and milk until the desired consistency is reached.
  8. Dip the top of each donut into the glaze and sprinkle with toppings before letting them set.
