Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Add the warm water and oil, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough briefly until it feels tacky, about 1 minute.
- Let the dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 425ºF.
- Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll each into a log.
- Roll each log to 22 to 24 inches long and twist into a pretzel shape.
- Dissolve the baking soda in hot water.
- Dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution and place on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
- Sprinkle with salt and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
- Brush the baked pretzels with melted butter and transfer to a cooling rack.
- Serve warm.
