Ingredients

Peel and Eat Shrimp

  • 1 lb 21-25 count shrimp, shell on
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning for cooking
  • 1 tablespoon pickling spice for cooking
  • 1 whole lemon, cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning for seasoning cooked shrimp
  • lemon slices garnish for serving

Cocktail Sauce

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup Heinz chili sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3-4 teaspoons prepared horseradish
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Fill a 3-4 quart saucepan halfway with water and add beer, Old Bay, pickling spice, and lemon halves with juice squeezed in.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and add the shrimp.
  3. Cook the shrimp for 2-4 minutes until they turn pink and firm.
  4. Drain the shrimp in a colander and discard the lemon.
  5. Serve the shrimp hot or cool with lemon slices and cocktail sauce.
  6. For the cocktail sauce, mix ketchup, chili sauce, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl and chill until needed.
