Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon table salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 32 pieces heart-shaped Hershey chocolates

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, and butter until smooth.
  5. Add the egg and vanilla, then mix for an additional minute.
  6. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined.
  7. Shape the dough into balls using 1½ tablespoons of dough for each ball, roll in sugar, and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cracks appear on top.
  9. Remove from the oven and immediately press a chocolate heart into each cookie.
  10. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
