Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Place ½ cup of sugar in a shallow dish.
- In a mixer, combine flour, brown sugar, remaining sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Reduce mixer speed to low and mix in peanut butter, shortening, egg, milk, and vanilla until a stiff dough forms.
- Shape the dough into 1-inch balls, roll in sugar, and place on the baking sheets 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, rotating the sheets halfway through.
- Press one Hershey's Kiss into the top of each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Cool completely on wire racks.
