Ingredients

Crisp Topping

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup finely chopped walnuts
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter

Filling

  • 4 large honeycrisp apples
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • pinch kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and prepare the dry ingredients for the crisp topping.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, chopped walnuts, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Cube the butter and melt it in a saucepan over medium heat until browned.
  4. Pour the browned butter over the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss them with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, allspice, and salt.
  6. Spray a baking dish and add the apple mixture evenly.
  7. Crumble the crisp topping over the apples.
  8. Bake for 55-65 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
