Honey Orange Chicken

Ingredients

The chicken

  • 5 pieces chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon Asian cooking wine, sake or Chinese rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste chopped parsley leaves, for garnishing
  • to taste white sesame seeds, for garnishing

The sauce

  • ½ cup orange juice
  • tablespoons honey
  • 1-2 teaspoons bottled garlic chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Debone the chicken thighs, keeping the skin on, and mix with cooking wine and soy sauce.
  2. Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl and whisk together.
  3. Heat a skillet and pan-fry the chicken skin side down until browned on both sides, then transfer to a serving platter.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté garlic until slightly browned, then return the chicken and add the sauce.
  5. Cook on low heat until the sauce reduces slightly, then garnish with parsley and sesame seeds before serving.
