Ingredients

The sweet potatoes

  • 2-2½ pounds sweet potatoes

The mix-ins

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
  2. For the Instant Pot method, add the sweet potatoes to the pot with enough water to cover them and cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
  3. Allow steam to release naturally for 10 minutes, then drain the excess water.
  4. Mash the sweet potatoes using a potato masher.
  5. Mix in the butter, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  6. Serve the mashed sweet potatoes.
  7. For the air fryer method, cook whole sweet potatoes at 400 degrees for 35-50 minutes until soft, then mash with the same ingredients.
  8. For the stovetop method, boil the diced sweet potatoes in water for 15-20 minutes until tender, then mash and mix with the ingredients.
