Ingredients

The rice

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice

The seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

The liquid

  • 4 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. In a 2½-quart or larger baking dish, combine the rice, butter, and salt.
  3. Stir in the boiling water until the butter is melted.
  4. Cover the dish tightly and bake until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
