Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and line an 8 x 8-inch pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, almond butter, and maple syrup until smooth.
- Add the coconut sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract, and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
- Transfer the batter into the lined pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a skewer comes out mostly clean.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before adding the optional frosting.
