Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • teaspoons Platinum Yeast from Red Star instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • teaspoons salt
  • 3⅓ cups all-purpose flour or bread flour

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by whisking warm water, warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a mixing bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add butter, salt, and 1 cup of flour, then mix on low speed, adding another cup of flour until incorporated.
  3. Add the remaining flour and mix until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-8 minutes until it is soft and slightly tacky.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle, then shape it into a log and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let the loaf rise for about 1 hour until it rises above the pan.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and bake the bread for 30-34 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool the bread in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
