Ingredients

Salad

  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • ½ head iceberg lettuce
  • 3 pieces pepperoncini, sliced
  • to taste Kosher salt and pepper

Sandwich

  • 1 loaf Italian sandwich loaf
  • to taste Calabrian chili paste
  • 2 slices Havarti cheese
  • 2 slices Colby jack cheese
  • 3 slices salami
  • 3 slices prosciutto
  • 3 slices spicy pepperoni
  • to taste fresh parmesan
  • 1 slice tomato
  • 1 slice white onion
  • to taste Kosher salt and black pepper
  • to taste freshly grated parmesan

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Soak the red onion in cold water to reduce bitterness.
  3. Whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, crushed red pepper, and minced garlic.
  4. Toss the dressing with iceberg lettuce, red onion, and pepperoncini, then season with salt and pepper.
  5. Slice the Italian loaf in half and spread Calabrian chili paste on both sides.
  6. Layer Havarti and Colby jack cheese on one half and the meats on the other half.
  7. Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the meat is warmed.
  8. Top the meat with the salad, tomato slices, onion, and parmesan cheese.
  9. Slice the sandwich in half and serve.
