Ingredients

  • 1 stick (½ cup) salted butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place the powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. Measure out the milk and vanilla and set aside.
  3. Heat the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  4. Once the butter melts, stir constantly until it turns frothy and brown, then remove from heat.
  5. Add the milk and vanilla to the powdered sugar, followed by the browned butter.
  6. Mix with an electric or stand mixer until combined.
  7. If using for frosting, apply immediately; otherwise, allow to cool and thicken.
