Instructions
- Prepare the yeast by mixing warm milk, maple sugar, and yeast; let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
- Add maple syrup, melted butter, egg, and vanilla to the yeast mixture and whisk to combine.
- Using a stand mixer, gradually add flour and salt to the wet ingredients until a shaggy dough forms, then knead until smooth and elastic.
- Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
- Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, maple sugar, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
- Roll the risen dough into a rectangle and spread the filling over it, then roll it into a tight log.
- Slice the log into 1-inch rolls and place them in a buttered baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter, then gradually add powdered sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla until fluffy.
- Allow the rolls to cool for 10 minutes before frosting them.
