Cream Cheese Danish with Fruit

pie filling of choice or diced fresh fruit
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Cut 4 circles from each sheet of puff pastry using a 4-inch round cutter.
- Score a smaller circle about ½ inch from the edge of each pastry round.
- Prick the interior of the smaller circle with a fork.
- In a mixer, combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese filling inside the smaller circle of each pastry round.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Bake for 17-20 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
- Cool and spoon 1 tablespoon of pie filling into the center of each pastry before serving.
